  2. Higher Body Fat? Focus on longer fat loss phases, with maintenance breaks every 3-6 months to reset.

  3. At Maintenance? This is your time to build better habits, strengthen your relationship with food, and sustain your physique without feeling restricted.

 

The Pros & Cons of Each Phase

Fat Loss Phase:

  • Pros: A leaner body; improved health at a healthy body fat %.

  • Cons: Training suffers; hunger, fatigue, and food focus increase; fewer social meals and alcohol.

Maintenance Phase:

  • Pros: Improved flexibility with food and timing; better hormones and recovery; less hunger and fatigue.

  • Cons: Body composition stays steady; less “exciting” than other phases.

Building Phase:

  • Pros: Best training performance and recovery; fastest muscle growth; lots of food flexibility.

  • Cons: Some fat gain; structured meal timing and protein intake are key.
