Embracing Growth and Action

Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to hear Chris Williamson speak live, and I felt so inspired by his insights on life, business and personal growth.

His approach to modern wisdom and self-discovery, combined with powerful life lessons, was truly empowering. Here are some takeaways that left a strong impression on me:

  1. The Power of a Supportive Circle: Chris emphasized surrounding yourself with people who support, uplift, and challenge you to grow. It can be difficult to break old habits and make changes, but choosing friends who inspire positive growth is essential.

  2. Mindfulness and Delayed Gratification: Changing our mindset requires mindfulness and a willingness to embrace delayed gratification. It’s easy to get caught up in old habits or the need for validation, but Chris reminded us of the importance of staying grounded and patient in our journey.

  3. Understanding Personality Types: He spoke about the different needs of Type A and Type B personalities, highlighting how each type has unique strengths and challenges, especially in finding validation and balancing life’s demands.

  4. Building Confidence Through Action: One of the most impactful messages was that confidence doesn’t come from shouting affirmations but from taking action. Chris shared how progress and self-belief stem from doing rather than just planning.

  5. Self-Compassion as a Foundation: Jordan Peterson’s quote really resonated: “Self-love is the only antidote to the chaos of existence. And if you don’t love and care for yourself and your own needs, you will cause unnecessary suffering both for yourself and others.” The reminder to prioritise self-care is crucial.

  6. Inaction is Still a Choice: Chris pointed out that inaction is, in itself, a choice. It’s easy to think we’re “doing the thing” by talking about it or writing it down. But true action is about showing up fully and committing to our goals.

This experience reinforced my understanding of why having a coach is such a valuable asset. A coach provides accountability, direction, and a space to overcome inaction and take real steps toward our goals.
