Eat the Hot Cross Bun
Easter is here — a time for family, friends, and of course, chocolate eggs and hot cross buns (my personal fave). And let me be clear: you can enjoy it all without guilt and still stay aligned with your goals.
Let’s keep it real.
One day (or even a few) of enjoying seasonal treats will not ruin your progress. You don’t need to “earn” your food or “burn it off” — that mindset can be more damaging than the treat itself. Instead, let’s lean into balance and flexibility.
💡 Here’s how to enjoy Easter guilt-free:
🥚 1. Practice Flexible Dieting
Think of the 5:2 approach — eating lighter or higher-protein meals on some days to allow a little more room for indulgence on others. It’s not restriction, it’s strategy. Flexible dieting allows you to enjoy your food and still see results.
🍗 2. Prioritise Protein
Start your day with high-protein meals. It helps you feel full, balances blood sugar, and makes it easier to keep your overall intake in check (yes, even when chocolate is around).
🥦 3. Lighter Meals, Fuller Enjoyment
Balance your main meals with plenty of veggies, lean protein, and fibre so you can really enjoy your chocolate egg or hot cross bun without the food coma.
⏳ 4. Slow Down, Be Present
Fun fact: the latest data shows that increasing the number of times you chew your food can actually reduce how much you eat overall. Chew slowly, be mindful, and savour every bite — especially when it’s a Lindt bunny 😏
📉 5. Understand the Deficit
A sensible calorie deficit (around 15–25% of your TDEE) is often enough to make solid progress. You don’t need to obsessively track every gram — sometimes just being more mindful, moving your body, and getting enough sleep makes a bigger difference than you think.
At the end of the day — eat the chocolate.
Enjoy the bun.
Be with your people.
And no, Becky, you don’t need to eat all ten eggs in one sitting 😅
Like fuel in a car — the more you burn, the more you need to refuel. So stay active, take the dog for a walk, play with the kids, or dance around the kitchen while cooking dinner.
If you want to learn how to eat chocolate and still reach your goals, that’s literally what I teach inside my coaching. No cutting out your faves, just flexible nutrition that fits your lifestyle.
